COLLEGE - Public Address - Class Change
Notre Dame Catholic College

Construction was recently completed on this new £15m building for Notre Dame College in Liverpool. The school with a history reaching back as afar as 1869 has moved to a new site about half a mile away from its old Victorian buildings.

The new design incorporates the best of the traditions and heritage of Notre Dame Everton Valley (including some beautiful legacy items such as the chapel's stained glassed windows) and combines them with a 21st century teaching and learning spaces.

PAS were engaged by the design team and A&B Engineering Ltd to design, install and commission a multi zone public address and class change system throughout the building. Using a combination of wall and ceiling speakers, speaker zones cover the teaching spaces, circulation, staff and external areas.

The system also signals class change times with digitally stored melodic tones which provide a welcome change to the old traditional bells of the past. A programmable timer enables fully automatic operation of the signals throughout the school day.

PAS engineers worked on site over several months as the building progressed carrying out cabling and speaker installation in accordance with the programme. Induction loop systems were supplied for the receptions and drama studio in the building to meet the DDA requirements.
